Our professional editors will utilize the Chicago Manual of Style (CMS) or Oxford Style Guide (OSG) when editing your manuscript. The CMS is the predominant style guide for books published in the United States and Canada. By default, we strictly adhere to the rules set forth by CMS when performing the full copyedit of your manuscript.
Endorsed by the Society for Editors and Proofreaders, OSG is the essential handbook for all writers and editors in Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom. This gives expert advice on writing and preparing copy and the spelling of words, covering headings, hyphenation, UK and US usage, capitalization, punctuation, indexing, among others.
Throughout the editing process up to publishing your title, we wish to maintain your original style. We will not make any plot or character changes or alter the overall meanings of your text.
To ensure that the guidelines agree with your personal style of authorship, we will send you an Editing Preferences Form at the onset which will serve as guide for the senior editor to go about editing your manuscript.
For fiction titles, the editor will focus on checking for consistency of plot details, characters, and setting.
For nonfiction titles, the editor will focus on maintaining consistency of information and ideas.

We perfect your spelling, punctuation, capitalization, grammar, and syntax. And we’ll provide recommendations for word choice and improving overall readability. An experienced editor will check your manuscript carefully, correcting errors in spelling, grammar, and punctuation. In addition, the editor will verify cross-references and impose the CMS industry-standard style.

For fiction works, the editor will analyze the readership and genre to determine whether the content is appropriate. Then, things such as plot, pace, characterization, and dialogue will be closely examined.

For nonfiction titles, the editor will analyze the possible uses of the work to determine that the content is complete and appropriate, concepts are developed adequately, and the material is well-organized. The editor will make sure that all lists, graphs, and illustrations are used effectively throughout the book.
